Relaxed camp close to the beautiful natural beach Playa Hermosa. The beach (Beachbreak) is never too crowded and therefore also suitable for beginners. The camp offers a familiar atmosphere and very good food. Whether quad tour or deep sea fishing, Simon (the owner) makes it possible and always has good tips at hand.
Nice small comfortable surf camp, only 3 minutes walk to the surf spot, very good food, great atmosphere, nothing to complain about. The owner and his team are very nice and helpful.
I had booked a week in the beginning and then extended it by one week because you can feel really good in the camp! 🙂 the proximity to the beach is great, because you are relatively independent. I also like the surflessons, I always felt safe in the water. Thanks Zopilote & Pura Vida
Stayed in this camp for tree weeks and had the most amazing time! The rooms, location and food are of a really good quality but what made the place stand out for me were the people. First of all the guest are super nice but the managers and volunteers are also amazing. They are super helpful, open and welcoming. You can see they care about your experience a lot. The accommodation and location are beautiful and quiet. Would absolutely recommend!!
I had a great time at Zopilote Surfcamp. The crew were very nice and reliable. The beach near the camp is beautiful and has great waves even during the summer. I highly recommend the camp to anyone looking to have a good time in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!!
I had an amazing time at Zopilote! It is located right next to a beautiful beach with great waves both for beginners and intermediate surfers. I just loved the atmosphere in the camp, everyone super open-minded, it’s cozy and on top of that the food was also great. Really didn’t miss anything, thanks again!!
I stayed at Surfcamp Zopilote in October 2025 and had an absolutely amazing time! It was off-season, so the place was a bit quieter and the water was never too busy – perfect for learning to surf in peace. A very good and beautiful spot for beginners and advanced surfers alike. The service at Zopilote was wonderful. The entire team was incredibly helpful, warm, and courteous. You can feel that they are passionate about their work. The food was also a highlight every time – always fresh, healthy, and really delicious! Especially the “fancy” salad. The surf lessons were motivating, professional, and fun at the same time. I learned something new every time and had a lot of fun doing it. I especially liked that the beach was only a few meters away – so I could surf anytime outside of class hours. Playa Hermosa itself is a small, charming village just outside of Santa Teresa – quiet, authentic, and with its own unique flair. It was this mix of nature, waves, and community that inspired me so much that I ended up staying three weeks longer than I had originally planned. For me, every penny was well spent, and I would come back again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a relaxed, family atmosphere with cool surfing lessons and really nice people, ZOPI is the place for you.
